An estimated 244,000 people had entered Manila South Cemetery as of 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 1, 2026, marking a 93.6 percent increase from the same period last year, according to the Makati City Government.

Of the total number of visitors recorded throughout the day, approximately 100,000 were still inside the cemetery as of 5 p.m., as families continued to pay their respects to departed loved ones in observance of All Saints’ Day.

The city government said the latest cumulative visitor count was significantly higher than the 126,039 recorded during the corresponding period in 2025.

Makati Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) Head Police Brigadier General Rodelio Jocson and Makati Police Chief Colonel Pedro Alagano monitored the situation at the cemetery and assessed the movement of visitors on Sunday afternoon.

Emergency response teams, police personnel, and members of the Makati Incident Management Team remained deployed to maintain peace and order, manage crowds, and provide assistance to cemetery visitors.

Mayor Nancy Binay expressed appreciation to emergency responders, public safety personnel, and city government employees for their continued service throughout the Undas observance.

The local government also reminded visitors to bring sufficient drinking water and umbrellas to protect themselves from the heat and possible rain.

Authorities reiterated the prohibition on sharp objects, flammable materials, and noise-making devices inside the cemetery to prevent accidents and maintain a peaceful environment.

The Makati City Government said its personnel would remain on standby to assist visitors and ensure public safety during the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.
