Holy Week is a special time for Filipinos to reflect and reconnect with their faith.

Many follow traditions like Visita Iglesia, where they visit seven churches to pray, and travel to various pilgrimage sites across the country.

One of the must-visit sites this Holy Week is the Montemaria Shrine in Batangas.

A tall statue of the Virgin Mary, known as the Mother of All Asia - Tower of Peace, located at Montemaria Shrine in Batangas, Philippines. The statue is adorned with a crown and holds objects in its hands, overlooking Batangas Bay.

Located in Barangay Pagkilatan and Mabacong in Batangas City, the shrine is home to the Mother of All Asia – Tower of Peace. This statue is the ninth tallest in the world – taller than both the Statue of Liberty in the United States and Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.

Overlooking Batangas Bay, the Mother of All Asia – Tower of Peace also holds the distinction of being the tallest statue of the Virgin Mary in the world. Visitors can climb up to the statue’s hands and crown for panoramic views and photo opportunities of Batangas Bay.

The Montemaria Shrine, a township project by AbaCore Capital Holdings Inc. (ABA), has become an increasingly popular destination for Filipino Catholics. This year, the shrine is prepared to welcome  many visitors Holy Week compared to 2024.

Last year, around 100,000 people visited the Montemaria Shrine during Holy Week. Since then, several new features have been added, including an expanded restaurant and food complex; modernized Stations of the Cross; and an improved road network to accommodate the expected increase in visitors.

ABA is working with its joint-venture partner, Fluvion Real Estate Development Inc. (Fluvion), to operate and further develop the shrine.

With these new developments, the Montemaria Shrine stands out as a meaningful destination for your Holy Week reflection.

“We invite the faithful to spend this solemn experience at the Montemaria Shrine — whether you are sight-seeing with your loved ones or visiting to practice your Catholic faith,” Guoan Wu, said president of Fluvion.
