The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) suspended the expanded number coding scheme on Thursday, Aug. 6, due to the inclement weather caused by Tropical Storm Maymay and the enhanced southwest monsoon.
The suspension applies across Metro Manila for the entire day.
The MMDA announced the decision in an advisory issued at 5:37 a.m.
Pagasa earlier forecast moderate to heavy rain over several parts of Luzon due to the combined effects of Maymay and the Habagat.
The weather conditions raised concerns over flooding, poor visibility and difficult travel in parts of the capital region.
The MMDA advised motorists to plan their trips before heading out.
Drivers were also urged to exercise caution while traveling during heavy rain.
The agency encouraged the public to continue monitoring official weather and traffic advisories.
