MMDA lifts number coding for Christmas and New Year holidays

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced that the expanded number coding scheme will be suspended during the holiday season.

The agency said in a Monday advisory that the measure will not be enforced on key dates to help ease traffic congestion.

Number coding will be lifted on December 24, 2025, Christmas Eve, which is a special non-working holiday.

It will also be suspended on December 25, 2025, Christmas Day, a regular holiday.

December 30, 2025, Rizal Day, a regular holiday, will also see no number coding in Metro Manila.

The suspension continues on December 31, 2025, New Year’s Eve, another special non-working holiday.

Finally, number coding will not be enforced on January 1, 2026, New Year’s Day, a regular holiday.

The MMDA reminded motorists to plan their trips, observe traffic regulations, and drive safely to prevent accidents.

Authorities said the suspension is part of efforts to ease the expected increase in holiday traffic across Metro Manila.

The agency encouraged drivers to remain cautious despite the suspension to ensure safe travel during the festive period.
