Donovan Mitchell took control with a game-high 33 points as the Cleveland Cavaliers powered past the Phoenix Suns, 118-92, at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse on Monday, extending their NBA-best record to 36-6.
Mitchell also added five rebounds and five assists, leading a balanced attack.
Darius Garland chipped in with 16 points and seven assists, while Jarrett Allen notched his 23rd double-double of the season, contributing 12 points and 11 rebounds. Allen also hit a milestone, grabbing his 3,000th career rebound during the game.
The Cavaliers, who were knotted at 27-all after the first quarter, took command with a strong second half.
Their offense clicked on all cylinders, while their defense stifled Phoenix, holding them to under 100 points for the fourth time since December. Cleveland drained 19 three-pointers, putting the Suns on their heels.
Mitchell and Garland were nearly flawless with the ball, combining for just two turnovers, showcasing the Cavaliers’ efficient execution.
Kevin Durant led Phoenix with 23 points and seven rebounds, but the Suns dropped to a .500 record of 21-21.
Cleveland, with the league’s best record, will head to Houston for their next game, while the Suns will face Brooklyn.
