A minor earthquake shook Boac town in Marinduque province early Thursday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
The agency said the tremor occurred at 6:31 a.m., with its epicenter estimated 15 kilometers northwest of the municipality.
Phivolcs classified the quake as tectonic, originating from movement along faults or plate boundaries.
The earthquake had a depth of 25 kilometers, indicating it was shallow but not strong enough to cause significant shaking.
Authorities said no damage was reported and no aftershocks are expected in the area.
Marinduque, a heart-shaped island province in southern Luzon, is separated from the mainland by Tayabas Bay.
The province rarely experiences earthquakes due to its location away from major fault lines.
