Mercedes-Benz strengthens technology partnerships

Mercedes-Benz Group AG is expanding its technology and supply chain collaborations with top South Korean companies, including Samsung Electronics and LG, as part of its global strategy, CEO Ola Kallenius said Friday.

Speaking at a media event in Incheon, Kallenius highlighted that Mercedes-Benz uses Korean technologies across its lineup. “You will not find a Mercedes-Benz anywhere in the world without a piece of Korea in it,” he said, adding that the company aims to deepen partnerships to drive innovation that excites customers.

The automaker plans to set up a procurement team focused on South Korea and the broader Asian market, fully integrated with its global teams in Germany. Details of advanced technology and next-generation component collaborations with Samsung and LG will be revealed over the next three to four years.

Kallenius also praised South Korea’s digital services and demanding in-car software market and emphasized a long-term approach to global manufacturing amid geopolitical tensions. On EV batteries, Mercedes-Benz remains committed to LG Energy Solution while sourcing from global suppliers including China’s CATL.

Mercedes-Benz Korea announced plans to launch over 40 new vehicles by 2027, unveiling four upcoming models: the all-new electric GLC, all-new electric CLA, Concept AMG GT XX, and Vision V.
