For delivery and ride-hailing drivers, every peso spent at the pump can mean less money brought home to their families.
With fuel remaining one of the biggest recurring expenses for drivers, Lalamove is giving 15 of its partner drivers some breathing room through a six-month fuel allowance under its Heroes Behind the Wheel 2026 campaign.
Timed with the celebration of National Heroes Day, the annual program recognizes partner drivers whose everyday work keeps passengers moving, businesses running and essential deliveries reaching their destinations.
Each of the 15 selected drivers will receive a ₱10,000 monthly fuel allowance for six months, credited through a Petron E-Fuel Card. That translates to as much as ₱60,000 in fuel support per driver, providing assistance where it can directly affect their daily earnings.
Rather than providing a one-time cash award, the program spreads the assistance over several months, helping drivers manage one of the most significant costs of staying on the road.
“We want to support our partner drivers’ earnings so that they can provide for their families, especially now, when the cost of living keeps rising,” said Djon Nacario, managing director of Lalamove Philippines.
“We want them to have steady support they can count on. They are the ones who make sure a passenger or a customer’s delivery arrives on time and safely, day in and day out, and they deserve to be recognized for it,” he added.
The fuel support comes on top of the earnings opportunities, incentives and rewards available to Lalamove partner drivers. Through the platform, drivers can take on parcel deliveries or passenger bookings and cash out their earnings weekly.
Stories from behind the wheel
Now on its second year in the Philippines, Heroes Behind the Wheel also turns the spotlight on the stories behind the people making thousands of trips every day.
More than 1,000 partner drivers submitted their stories for this year’s campaign.
Six of the 15 winners were chosen to be featured in special vlog episodes alongside content creators Charuth and JB Suarez, bringing viewers along for a closer look at the challenges, sacrifices and memorable moments drivers encounter on the road.
Among those featured is Bernadeth Alcantara, the platform’s only female 600-kilogram vehicle driver, and Samantha Althea Rabara, who drives an L300 part-time while pursuing a criminology degree.
Also featured are Jay-R Villanueva, a licensed teacher awaiting a permanent teaching position; Jeffrey Pardillo, who takes on long-distance bookings other drivers may decline; and Nicolai Karangalan, who has earned customers’ trust by ensuring their cargo reaches its destination safely.
Completing the group is Arl Iverson Villanueva, a former fast-food worker whose most meaningful bookings include transporting medicine for patients and sick pets.
Their stories highlight how driving is often more than simply moving goods from one point to another. For many partner drivers, every completed trip helps pay tuition, put food on the table, cover household expenses or build toward a more secure future.
Everyday heroes on the road
National Heroes Day traditionally honors Filipinos whose sacrifices helped shape the nation. Lalamove’s campaign takes a more contemporary view of heroism by recognizing the workers who quietly keep communities connected every day.
From delivering medicine and business supplies to transporting passengers and last-minute gifts, drivers often remain on the road even during holidays, bad weather and periods of rising operating costs.
Through Heroes Behind the Wheel, Lalamove said it hopes to make those often-overlooked stories more visible while providing practical support that helps drivers keep more of their earnings.
The company plans to continue the initiative as an annual program celebrating the people behind every booking.
