The Manila Electric Company (Meralco), led by Manuel V. Pangilinan, has earned top regional recognition after winning the Platinum Award for Asia’s Best Integrated Report – First Time Category at the 2025 Asia Integrated Reporting Awards (AIRA). The company’s inaugural One Meralco 2024 Integrated Report emerged as the highest-scoring first-time entry across Asia, the Pacific, and the Middle East.
Considered the gold standard for corporate reporting in the region, AIRA honors organizations that demonstrate excellence in sustainability and integrated reporting. Winners are chosen through a rigorous, multi-stage assessment and independent reputation checks.
For Meralco, the honor underscores its commitment to transparency, accountability, and long-term value creation. The One Meralco 2024 Integrated Report introduces a unified narrative for Meralco and its subsidiaries—presenting a cohesive view of strategy, governance, performance, climate action, and social impact.
“We recognize that what matters to our stakeholders goes well beyond financial and operational figures,” said Raymond B. Ravelo, Meralco First Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer. “Climate risks, social impact, and governance now play a crucial role in decision-making. By embedding these into our reporting framework ahead of regulatory timelines, we’re preparing Meralco to meet today’s requirements and anticipate tomorrow’s challenges.”
The report stands among the first in the Philippines to adopt both the International Integrated Reporting Framework and the IFRS S2 Climate-related Disclosures standard—well ahead of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s mandate. It also marks Meralco’s maiden adoption of double materiality, examining the company’s impact on people and the planet alongside the financial implications of sustainability-related risks and opportunities.
By integrating its businesses under the “One Meralco” narrative, the company spotlights unified value creation across economic, environmental, and social dimensions.
“The AIRA winners are redefining corporate transparency and long-term value creation through integrated thinking,” said Rajesh Chhabara, Managing Director of CSRWorks International and founder of AIRA.
