MediaTek unveils Filogic 8000 Series, jumpstarting the wi-fi 8 era at CES 2026

Setting the tone for the next generation of wireless connectivity, MediaTek formally introduced its Filogic 8000 family at CES 2026, positioning the company at the forefront of the emerging Wi-Fi 8 ecosystem.

Designed to deliver ultra-high reliability, low latency, and smarter spectrum usage, the new chipset family is poised to power a wide range of gateways and client devices—from broadband gateways and enterprise access points to smartphones, laptops, TVs, tablets, and AI-driven IoT products.

As the number of connected devices continues to surge, wireless environments are becoming increasingly congested, often resulting in interference, unstable connections, and delayed response times. Wi-Fi 8 directly addresses these challenges by prioritizing reliability and consistency, ensuring seamless performance even in dense, high-traffic environments.

Users can expect improved bandwidth efficiency, better power management, and more stable connectivity—critical advantages as AI-enabled and latency-sensitive applications become mainstream.

At its core, Wi-Fi 8 is engineered for modern, AI-centric digital ecosystems. Its technological advances span four key innovation pillars. Through multi-AP coordination, access points can intelligently collaborate using features such as Coordinated Beamforming, Coordinated Spatial Reuse, and Multi-AP Scheduling, significantly reducing interference and boosting overall network efficiency.

Spectrum efficiency and coexistence are enhanced through Dynamic Subband Operation, Non-Primary Channel Access, and In-Device Coexistence, allowing devices to share crowded frequencies more effectively.

Coverage and range also receive a major upgrade, with Enhanced Long Range and Distributed-Tone Resource Units improving uplink performance, reducing latency, and enabling seamless roaming—particularly vital at the network edge where AI workloads demand consistent responsiveness.

On the reliability front, smarter data rate adaptation and Aggregated PPDU technology ensure sustained low-latency performance for real-time use cases such as extended reality, cloud gaming, and industrial automation. Together, these innovations position Wi-Fi 8 as a scalable, future-ready platform for high-density wireless networks.

Industry leaders welcomed MediaTek’s early move into Wi-Fi 8. Kevin Robinson, President and CEO of Wi-Fi Alliance, said MediaTek’s early sampling of Wi-Fi 8 solutions highlights the industry’s accelerating momentum. He noted that Wi-Fi 8 will usher in a new era of high-performance connectivity, enabling more sophisticated applications, immersive experiences, and ultra-reliable multi-gigabit networks worldwide.

Alan Hsu, MediaTek’s Corporate Vice President and General Manager of its Intelligent Connectivity Business Unit, said the company is pioneering Wi-Fi 8 deployment across both gateways and client devices. He added that MediaTek’s CES demonstrations underscore its commitment to advancing next-generation wireless technologies while reinforcing leadership built during the Wi-Fi 7 era.

The Filogic 8000 series reflects MediaTek’s broader strategy of rapidly translating new wireless standards into market-ready solutions.

With more than two billion connected devices shipped annually, the company continues to play a central role in shaping dependable wireless experiences, working closely with global partners including Deutsche Telekom, Airties, SoftAtHome, and Zyxel.

MediaTek said the Filogic 8000 family will target premium and flagship devices leveraging Wi-Fi 8, with the first chipset expected to reach customers later this year—marking a significant step toward commercializing the next chapter of high-performance, ultra-reliable wireless connectivity.
