Maymay Entrata — reborn, real, and ready for more

At the recent Star Magic Spotlight press conference, Maymay Entrata emerged as more than just a showbiz figure—she stood tall as a woman reclaiming her power, direction, and aspirations. While the event was meant to showcase her current projects, what truly resonated was her raw honesty about the personal journey that has shaped her in recent years.

Maymay, known for her multi-hyphenate status as an actress, singer, and former Pinoy Big Brother Big Winner, addressed her inconsistent appearances in the entertainment scene. With heartfelt emotion, she revealed that the reason behind her absence was to prioritize family—particularly to be present for her ailing mother and grandmother, who played a central role in her upbringing.

In a moment of vulnerability, she expressed her devotion, saying she would go back and forth between Cagayan de Oro and Japan without hesitation if it meant spending more time with them. Her love for her “two mothers” was palpable, and it became clear that her temporary withdrawal from the spotlight was a necessary act of love and duty rather than retreat.

“Sobrang mahal na mahal ko po sila (I love them so much),” she said. “’Yun yung dahilan kung bakit on and off ako sa showbiz nitong mga nakaraang taon (That’s the main reason I was on and off showbiz the past years).”

Despite these personal battles, Maymay’s shine hasn’t dimmed. Her candid and grounded nature continues to endear her to fans, reminding everyone why she’s remained a beloved figure. Her emotional strength and transparency have only deepened the public’s admiration, showing growth that transcends her on-screen roles.

During the event, she also addressed the current PBB Collab Edition, choosing to speak from a place of empathy amid controversy. Encouraging compassion over condemnation, she challenged the tendency to judge others harshly, emphasizing the importance of uplifting one another and giving people the space to grow from their mistakes.

As for her artistic journey, Maymay is forging ahead with powerful new projects. From her viral anthem “Amakabogera” to her latest achievement—voicing the Filipino version of Disney’s Snow White theme “Nasaan ang Hiling?”—her talent and range continue to expand. She described the Disney opportunity as a dream fulfilled, likening it to stepping into a fairytale.

With upcoming releases including the Netflix mini-series Happy Crush and her new album Reborn, featuring the track “Paradise” and a self-written song from an international camp, Maymay’s evolution is not just professional—it’s personal. Reborn, she says, is her tribute to resilience: a reminder that even in the darkest moments, she found the strength to rise and rebuild herself.
