President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has directed the formation of a dedicated inter-agency committee to manage the Philippines’ participation in the Green Expo 2027, an international horticultural exhibition set to take place in Yokohama, Japan.
Through Administrative Order No. 41, signed on Feb. 4 and released by Malacañang on Saturday, the President established the Philippine Organizing Committee (POC) to spearhead all preparatory and promotional efforts for the six-month event.
The committee is led by the Department of Agriculture as chair and the Department of Tourism as vice chairperson, with a membership that includes the secretaries of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Industry, and Science and Technology, as well as the heads of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions.
Running from March to September 2027 under the theme “Scenery of the Future for Happiness,” the expo aims to highlight global breakthroughs in sustainable agriculture, green technology, and biodiversity.
Marcos noted that the country’s involvement is a strategic move aligned with the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028, focusing on agricultural sustainability and technological advancement.
Beyond overseeing the Philippine pavilion, the POC is mandated to submit quarterly progress reports and a final evaluation to the Office of the President and the Department of Budget and Management.
Malacañang views the expo as a key opportunity to showcase the nation’s ecotourism, high-value crops, and climate resilience initiatives to the global community.
