The Manila city government raised the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMO) to a red alert status on Saturday in preparation for the expected impact of Typhoon Uwan (international name Fung-wong) over the weekend.
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso ordered MDRRMO Director Arnel Angeles to ensure a fast and prompt response to any incidents, according to a social media post by the Manila Public Information Office (MPIO).
The public was also advised to remain vigilant and call 0932-662-2322 for any emergency.
In an effort to help residents secure their vehicles, Domagoso announced that several establishments would offer temporary shelter.
“In preparation for Uwan, SM San Lazaro, SM City Manila, and SM Savemore Market Nagtahan will open their parking areas to serve as safe vehicle shelters,” Domagoso stated in a Facebook post. He added that overnight parking fees would be waived on November 8 and 9, 2025.
The MPIO also shared an advisory from the Winford Hotel and Casino, which is offering free parking for vehicles seeking safe shelter.
