The Archdiocese of Manila issued a prayer on Friday in anticipation of the selection of the new leader of the Catholic Church.
In Circular No. 2025-31, the archdiocese urged the faithful to pray for the College of Cardinals as they prepare to elect the 267th pope in a conclave at the Vatican next week.
“We invite all the faithful to join in the celebration of the Eucharist, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Liturgy of the Hours, personal prayer, and the rosary, in solidarity with the universal Church,” the Manila Archdiocese stated.
“Starting Saturday evening, 3 May 2025, and continuing until the election of the new Supreme Pontiff, our parishes and communities will recite the Prayer for the Election of a Pope after the Post Communion Prayer at all Masses,” it added.
Additionally, the archdiocese announced that starting on Wednesday, 7 May 2025, the beginning of the papal conclave, all Masses will be dedicated to praying for the election of the new pope.
“The Masses in our parishes and communities on this day will be celebrated ‘For the Election of a Pope,'” the archdiocese confirmed.
This selection will determine the successor to Pope Francis, who passed away on April 21 at the age of 88.
