Lucky Me! pancit canton makes New York Times’ best noodles list

A local instant noodle brand has made it onto The New York Times’ Best Instant Noodles 2025 list.

An article published in January 2025 featured Lucky Me! Pancit Canton Kalamansi flavor in the citrusy ramen category, followed by the Thai brand Mama’s Shrimp Tom Yum Noodles.

“Of all the noodles we’ve tested, the Pancit Canton Kalamansi disappeared from the bowl the fastest,” The New York Times supervising editor Marilyn Ong said.

The article described the Pancit Canton as “bright and citrusy, plus honey and comforting (notes) all at once.”

“The dry seasoning, soy sauce, and oil packets combine to produce a nuanced blend of light soy and fresh, aromatic citrus. The noodles are skinnier and more extra-curly than even your standard cheap ramen, so they had almost a fluffy feel,” it added.

Ong explained that the list was created by consulting a panel of experts, which included cookbook authors, ramen reviewers, and ramen shop owners. The Wirecutter editorial team also taste-tested each noodle and selected their top favorites.

Wirecutter is a product recommendation service affiliated with The New York Times, while Lucky Me! is one of the brands owned by Philippine multinational food company Monde Nissin.
