LTFRB Chairman Atty. Vigor Mendoza II held a meeting on Thursday with representatives from various transport groups to discuss current issues affecting public transport operations.
Participating organizations included Pro-Movers Transport Alliance, SB3 Muntinlupa Transport Cooperative, East UV Express Transport Group, and United National Public Transport of the Philippines (UNPTP). Franchise Planning and Monitoring Division Chief Atty. Sherwin Vizconde also attended to provide updates on franchise and route management.
The groups highlighted concerns about unauthorized vehicles and illegal terminals affecting legitimate operators.
Some proposals discussed included postponing fare increases and providing fuel subsidies, contingent on stronger enforcement against unlicensed operations.
Stakeholders acknowledged that fare adjustments could affect passengers but emphasized the importance of an organized transport system.
Mendoza said LTFRB will continue addressing unauthorized operations while reviewing possible solutions for overlapping routes and supporting registered operators.
He added that the agency will maintain communication with transport stakeholders to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable public transportation.
