Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla on Monday said former Bureau of Corrections chief Gerald Bantag, former police officer Rafael Dumlao III, and businessman Charlie “Atong” Ang are now covered by Interpol red notices.
Remulla made the statement during a press briefing, where he said the international alerts had already been issued against Bantag, Dumlao, and Ang. He also noted that a separate request involving former Ako Bicol party-list representative Zaldy Co has been submitted but has yet to be acted on.
He said the request for Co’s inclusion in the red notice system was filed in September 2025, and that documentary requirements had already been completed by Philippine authorities while awaiting Interpol’s approval.
Interpol red notices serve as requests to locate and provisionally arrest individuals pending extradition or similar legal action. However, enforcement depends on the domestic laws of member countries.
Remulla also cited previous developments in the cases of the individuals involved. Bantag was ordered arrested by a Muntinlupa court in connection with the killing of broadcaster Percival “Percy Lapid” Mabasa, while Dumlao was previously convicted in connection with the 2016 abduction and killing of South Korean businessman Jee Ick Joo.
Ang, for his part, is facing a kidnapping complaint tied to the disappearance of several cockfighting enthusiasts.
Authorities had earlier offered monetary rewards for information leading to the arrest of Bantag and Dumlao.
Remulla made the remarks following a command conference with the Philippine National Police, where he reiterated the government’s directive to intensify efforts in locating fugitives in high-profile cases.
