The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) dismissed one of its drivers after a video showing the employee driving against traffic went viral.
LTFRB Chairperson Atty. Vigor Mendoza said the termination aims to reinforce discipline and professionalism within the agency, particularly regarding misuse of authority.
The driver, a contractual employee, was relieved from duty following an investigation ordered immediately after the video circulated over the weekend.
Mendoza noted that the footage clearly showed violations of traffic rules and regulations, prompting swift action by the agency.
He emphasized that any breach of road safety standards by LTFRB personnel will not be tolerated, stressing the responsibility of public servants to uphold the law.
“We do not condone and tolerate this kind of behavior that does not only show abuse of authority but also compromise the safety of all road users,” Mendoza said.
The chairperson urged LTFRB staff to take the incident as a reminder to serve as role models and follow rules diligently.
Members of the public were encouraged to report any future violations or misconduct by LTFRB employees to help maintain safety and accountability on the roads.
