Lotlot de Leon reflects on motherhood and family amid recent losses

Lotlot de Leon, eldest daughter of the late National Artist Nora Aunor, recently shared heartfelt reflections on motherhood and family after celebrating Mother’s Day on May 11. In a social media post, Lotlot opened up about her role as the eldest sibling to Matet, Ian, Kenneth, and Kiko, saying that from a young age, she was tasked to look after them.

“When I became a mom, I thought I knew how to take care of my kids because I was already an ‘ate,’ but as they grew up, I realized how much I still had to learn,” she wrote. Lotlot raised four children—Janine, Jessica, Diego, and Max—with her ex-husband Ramon Christopher, whom she separated from in 2003. She shared how her children have grown into responsible and caring individuals, qualities she believes came from her mother’s teachings.

Reflecting on recent losses, Lotlot expressed gratitude for her children’s unwavering support after both of their grandmothers passed away just five days apart. She admired how they handled the grief with grace, love, and kindness, saying, “They took charge… They were my walls of strength and their love was the one I leaned on during those difficult times.”

Despite the pain, Lotlot finds solace in her family’s resilience and unity, saying, “Kahit gaano kahirap at kasakit, I know they believe that this is what we call, life… what matters most during those heartbreaking moments is, FAMILY.”

Lotlot married Ramon Christopher in 1989 at 17, and they separated after 14 years. In 2018, she married Lebanese businessman Fadi El Soury after dating for six years.
