LA TRINIDAD, BENGUET — The local government of La Trinidad has relaunched its Neighborhood Watch Program to enhance police-community coordination and resolve conflicts faster without resorting to social media.
Mayor Roderick Awingan said many complaints are often aired through Facebook posts, which are not ideal for immediate action.
“By relaunching this program, we encourage residents to directly reach out to authorities and remain vigilant in their communities,” he said.
First introduced in 2018 through an ordinance authored by Awingan, the program promotes direct coordination between residents, barangay officials, and the police to combat crime and maintain peace and order.
Part of the initiative includes training sessions for residents to better understand laws and ordinances, empowering them to help prevent crimes and settle disputes properly rather than escalating them online.
