Kerwin Espinosa has officially returned to public office after being proclaimed mayor of Albuera, Leyte. He won with 10,939 votes, beating Vince Rama (7,081 votes) and Sixto Dela Victoria (2,761 votes).
Espinosa expressed gratitude to Albuera residents after his victory.
“Nabaril ako, hindi ako namatay. Ang pagkaintindi ko kung bakit hindi ako namatay, may misyon ako at ang sugo, nasa taas, ay ang Diyos natin. Ito na ngayon, boses ng taong bayan, boses din ng Diyos,” he said.
His brother, RR Espinosa, was also proclaimed as the town’s vice mayor with 10,555 votes.
Previously known for his admission of involvement in illegal drugs, Espinosa now promises to focus on eradicating drugs in the town and promoting peace.
“Ang droga dinhi sa Albuera, limpyohon namo. Ang BE-PK ang manguna sa paglimpyo sa maong droga,” he said.
He also emphasized that his administration’s anti-drug campaign will be non-violent.
“Sa anti-drug campaign, katukin naming sila, pakiusapan na huminto na at itigil na at kalimutan na ang droga sa kanilang buhay. Kung hindi makinig, walang mamamatay kundi may mahuhuli, o i-rehab, ipa-rehab ko, libre, libre ang rehab sa administrasyon sa BE-PK,” he added.
Espinosa also plans to establish a hospital in Albuera to improve access to healthcare services.
