Filipino consumers are set to face a week of mixed fortune at the pump, with significant increases announced for diesel and kerosene, even as gasoline prices edge slightly lower.
Seaoil Philippines confirmed on Monday a new round of fuel price adjustments scheduled to take effect on Tuesday, November 25, reflecting the volatile movements in the global oil market.
Kerosene users will bear the steepest increase, with prices climbing by a substantial P1.30 per liter. Diesel prices are also set to rise by 60 centavos per liter.
In a minor reprieve for motorists, the price of gasoline will see a modest decrease of 20 centavos per liter.
The price changes will be implemented across Seaoil’s network starting at 12:01 a.m. for stations implementing early adjustments, and 6 a.m. for the rest.
Industry observers note that the varied adjustments are driven by conflicting global factors.
The slight drop in gasoline prices is attributed to a softening of regional demand and a noted buildup in US inventories.
Meanwhile, the significant hikes for diesel and kerosene are reportedly due to upward pressure from reduced exports by Northeast Asian refiners, limited Chinese outflows, and persistent disruptions in Russian supply.
