ITCZ brings scattered rains to parts of Mindanao; easterlies, amihan affect other regions

The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is affecting southern Mindanao on Monday, according to PAGASA’s latest weather forecast.

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected over the Davao Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, SOCCSKSARGEN, and BARMM due to the ITCZ. Moderate to heavy rains may lead to possible flash floods or landslides.

In the Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar, Romblon, and Palawan, cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are also expected due to the easterlies. Similar rainfall may also result in flooding or landslides.

Meanwhile, the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Cagayan Valley will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains caused by the northeast monsoon or amihan. PAGASA said no significant impact is expected.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies. Severe thunderstorms may still cause localized flash floods or landslides.

Coastal waters will be moderate in the eastern section of the country and slight to moderate elsewhere.

Sunrise was at 5:58 a.m., and sunset is expected at 6:07 p.m. on Monday.
