Senior officials of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in MIMAROPA paid tribute to police officers killed in a 2021 ambush during a commemorative visit and candle-lighting ceremony in Magsaysay, Occidental Mindoro, on Saturday, October 31, 2026.

Police Regional Office (PRO) MIMAROPA Director Brig. Gen. Christopher Dela Cruz, together with Occidental Mindoro Police Provincial Director Col. Ali Jose Duterte, led the ceremony at the ambush site along the National Highway in Barangay Nicolas at around 2 p.m.

The activity formed part of the PNP’s observance of Undas 2026, honoring police personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty.

The site was where police officers were ambushed on May 28, 2021, after participating in a Serbisyo Caravan at Sitio Quianay, Barangay Naibuan, San Jose, Occidental Mindoro.

The incident remains a significant part of the history of the Occidental Mindoro Police Provincial Office, serving as a reminder of the dangers faced by law enforcement personnel while carrying out their duties.

During the visit, Dela Cruz, Duterte, and other police officials lit candles in remembrance of the fallen officers and recognized their service and sacrifice.

The ceremony also highlighted the police organization’s commitment to preserving the memory of personnel who died while serving their communities.

PRO MIMAROPA said the tribute was intended to honor the bravery and dedication of the fallen officers while reminding active personnel of their responsibility to uphold public safety.

The activity coincided with the nationwide observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, when Filipinos traditionally remember and pay respects to their departed loved ones.

Police officials emphasized that the sacrifices of fallen personnel would continue to serve as an inspiration for members of the PNP to perform their duties with integrity, professionalism, and dedication.

The commemorative visit also reaffirmed the PNP’s commitment to recognizing the contributions of police officers who lost their lives in the performance of their duties.
