Police arrested a 20-year-old man facing five outstanding warrants for alleged carnapping offenses and his 23-year-old companion during an operation in Quezon City on Friday, October 30, 2026.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) said the operation also resulted in the recovery of two firearms, ammunition, and a motorcycle believed to have been used by the suspects.
According to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), personnel from Pasong Putik Police Station 16, assisted by Police Station 15, intercepted the two men along Tacloban Street in Barangay Vasra, Diliman, at around 5:45 a.m.
The suspects were riding a white Yamaha Aerox motorcycle when police approached them.
Authorities identified the primary suspect as a 20-year-old man wanted under five warrants of arrest for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 10883, or the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016.
His 23-year-old companion was also arrested after allegedly attempting to draw a concealed firearm and resisting arrest during the encounter.
Police recovered a .40-caliber pistol loaded with five rounds of ammunition and an unregistered .38-caliber revolver containing four rounds. The motorcycle used by the suspects was also taken into police custody.
Investigators are examining the possible involvement of the arrested individuals in a motorcycle carnapping incident reported on October 25 in Barangay Pasong Putik Proper.
Police said the primary suspect also has other pending cases and has been linked to several alleged criminal activities, including multiple carnapping incidents.
Authorities emphasized that these allegations remain subject to further investigation and appropriate legal proceedings.
PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the arrest demonstrated the importance of acting promptly on reliable information and ensuring that police operations are conducted within the law.
“Ang mahalaga, hindi natin pinababayaan ang mga kasong dapat aksyunan. When our personnel receive reliable information, they must act promptly, work together, and make sure that everything is done properly and within the law. We owe it to the public to take these responsibilities seriously and make our communities safer,” Nartatez said.
The PNP chief also directed police units to sustain intelligence gathering, coordination, and operations against vehicle theft and illegal firearms.
The PNP said the operation forms part of its Enhanced Managing Police Operations program, which focuses on coordinated law enforcement efforts against criminal activities.
Meanwhile, authorities urged the public to report suspicious activities involving stolen vehicles and illegal firearms through official police channels.
Police said investigations into the suspects’ alleged involvement in other carnapping incidents remain ongoing.
