Five Chinese nationals were arrested at Zamboanga International Airport on Saturday. According to the Bureau of Immigration (BI), the suspects are connected to the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) called Lucky South 99, which was raided in Porac, Pampanga last year.
In a statement, the BI revealed that the arrested individuals were employees of Lucky South 99, a company involved in illegal POGO operations in the country. Reports indicated that they were working under tourist visas, which is not permitted under Philippine immigration laws. The operation is part of the government’s intensified efforts to crack down on illegal POGO activities and prevent criminal behavior linked to unauthorized foreign workers.
BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco mentioned that the agency will continue to conduct widespread inspections at international airports across the country as part of ongoing efforts to combat illegal employment and enforce immigration regulations.
