Filipino Food Month 2025 officially launched, celebrates cuisine as cultural heritage

The Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Tourism (DOT), National Commission on Culture and the Arts (NCCA), and the Philippine Culinary Heritage Movement (PCHM) officially kicked off the celebration of Filipino Food Month (FFM) 2025 during a media launch held on March 21 at the Manila Prince Hotel in Ermita.

Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 469, s. 2018, Filipino Food Month is celebrated every April to preserve and promote Filipino cuisine as an essential part of the nation’s identity and culture.

This year’s theme, “Sarap ng Pagkaing Pilipino, Yaman ng Ating Kasaysayan, Kultura, at Pagkatao,” emphasizes support for local agriculture, strengthened collaboration across sectors, and sustainability in the food industry.

DA Assistant Secretary for Agribusiness, Marketing, and Consumer Affairs Genevieve Velicaria-Guevarra, who chairs the FFM 2025 National Steering Committee, highlighted that Filipino cuisine is not just about daily nourishment but is deeply rooted in the country’s history and culture.
