Ish Polvorosa of Criss Cross has been recognized as the Spikers’ Turf Press Corps Player of the Week, presented by Pilipinas Live, for March 5 to 9.

Polvorosa becomes the first setter to receive this distinction, which is awarded by print and online reporters covering the league. The games are streamed live and on-demand via the Pilipinas Live app and on www.spikersturf.ph.

The Criss Cross playmaker edged out his teammates Jude Garcia, Jaron Requinton, Savouge’s Mark Calado, and Cignal’s Wendel Miguel to earn the weekly honor.

Guiding the King Crunchers with precision and control, Polvorosa has been instrumental in their dominant 6-0 start in the 2025 Spikers’ Turf Open Conference.

In last Wednesday’s 25-23, 25-21, 25-17 victory over the Cignal HD Spikers at the FilOil EcoOil Arena in San Juan, he delivered 18 excellent sets and four blocks, showcasing his exceptional playmaking skills. Last Sunday, he followed up that performance by dishing out 12 excellent sets in Criss Cross’ 25-10, 25-12, 25-11 rout of Alpha Insurance at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

Reflecting on the team’s success, the 27-year-old former Ateneo standout emphasized the importance of staying focused, “We’ve learned from the past year that winning a lot of early games doesn’t mean our job is done. That’s not the goal. At the end of the day, we still need to be steadfast. Our mindset should be one game at a time towards the championship we dream of.”

Next, the King Crunchers will take on the VNS-Laticrete Griffins at the Ynares Sports Arena this Wednesday.
