Filipinos can now grow their savings and invest in the country’s future—all with just a few taps on their phones.

The Bureau of the Treasury (BTr) on Friday announced that users of the popular e-wallet GCash can now invest in select government securities, including Treasury bills (T-bills), through a new platform called GBonds.

A collaboration between the BTr, GCash, the Philippine Digital Asset Exchange (PDAX), and Bonds.ph, GBonds makes government bonds more accessible than ever before.

Housed directly within the GCash app, GBonds allows users to invest in T-bills starting at just P500, and in Retail Treasury Bonds (RTBs) for as low as P5,000 during official offerings. The platform features free top-ups and withdrawals, with standard fees applied only to buy or sell transactions.

This initiative is part of the Treasury’s broader push for financial inclusion, giving more Filipinos the chance to invest—even without a traditional bank account. By simplifying access to government securities, the BTr hopes to attract a new generation of investors and strengthen the country’s domestic debt market.

GBonds is about bridging the gap between the government securities market and millions of Filipinos,” said National Treasurer Sharon Almanza. “We’re leveraging technology to make investing easier, more inclusive, and right at your fingertips.”

Finance Secretary Ralph Recto also emphasized the bigger picture: “GBonds isn’t just about growing your savings. It’s also a tool to help build the nation—supporting critical government projects in infrastructure, education, and more.”

With RTBs set to be added soon, GBonds promises to be a game-changer in how ordinary Filipinos participate in nation-building—one small investment at a time.
