Iloilo offers reward to identify bomb threat suspects

The Iloilo City Government is offering a P100,000 reward for information leading to the identification of those behind a series of bomb threats that disrupted at least nine public and private schools on November 17, 2025. One school also received a threat the night before, according to a GMA Regional TV One Western Visayas report.

Mayor Raisa Treñas condemned the incidents and assured the public of ongoing efforts to track down the culprit. “We are serious about this. Indi lang ini isyu sang pagtuon sang kabataan, kundi isyu man sang seguridad sang bilog nga siyudad. Gina-assure ko ang publiko nga nagapadayon ang close coordination naton upod sa ICPO, RACU, kag NBI para maka-identify ang responsable sini,” she said.

The Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 also warned the public that bomb jokes and false threats are criminal acts. “Bomb jokes may sound harmless to some, but they can trigger real panic, disrupt operations, and put innocent lives at risk… Stay alert, stay responsible, and never treat bomb jokes as something to laugh about,” PRO 6 said in a statement.

PRO 6 reminded the public that making false bomb threats is punishable under Presidential Decree 1727, with penalties of up to five years imprisonment, fines up to P40,000, or both.
