Iloilo launches ‘Pasilong’ housing for Ilonggo families

The Iloilo City Government launched its flagship housing program, “PASILONG: Pabalay para sa Pamilyang Ilonggo,” on Thursday, consolidating all local housing initiatives under one banner.

“Pasilong, which means a place where one can find shelter or rest, is a game changer, not just for branding purposes but also for genuine public service,” said Iloilo City Local Housing Office (ICLHO) head Atty. Peter Millare.

The program includes building climate-resilient, low-cost homes, organizing communities, and forming homeowners’ associations in partnership with the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development.

“Ultimately, we will be working hard for the security of tenure program through the processing of certificate of registration and license to sell, approval of subdivision survey plans for the relocation sites for titling,” Millare added.

Currently, Iloilo has 46 relocation and resettlement sites offering both lot-only and house-and-lot packages in coordination with civil society groups and national agencies.

Millare also announced that, with Mayor Raisa Treñas’ approval, houses at the Iloilo Riverplains Subdivision in Barangays Lanit and Camalig, Jaro, will be given free of charge. The city will only recover the cost of the lot and site development for the subdivision’s 1,000 residents.

Mayor Treñas revealed that over 2,000 more housing units are in the pipeline, with an additional 30,000 square meters of land already acquired for future projects.

The program’s launch gathered key partners, including the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED), Henber Realty, EON Realty, Pag-IBIG Fund, and City Councilor Mandrie Malabor.
