Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP)–Roxas District Jail commemorated Undas on Thursday night by lighting candles and offering prayers for their departed loved ones.
BJMP Mimaropa spokesperson JO3 Joefrie Anglo said the activity gave inmates a chance to reflect, remember, and honor their loved ones despite being confined.
“Even behind these walls, their prayers carry the warmth of love and the ache of longing for those they have lost. In every whispered prayer, no soul is ever truly forgotten,” Anglo said in a news release.
The observance, marked by candle lighting and quiet prayers, created a solemn atmosphere of remembrance within the jail compound.
Anglo added that such activities form part of the bureau’s efforts to promote spiritual growth and personal reflection among PDLs, nurturing their well-being and humanity even while in detention.
The Undas event reflected the inmates’ enduring faith and love, proving that remembrance and family ties remain strong beyond confinement.
