Iloilo flood control project collapses before Typhoon

A section of a flood control project in Barangay 5, San Miguel, Iloilo collapsed on November 2, 2025, even before heavy rains from Typhoon Tino reached the area.

The incident, reported around 10 a.m., alarmed residents as the province was already placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 ahead of the typhoon’s expected landfall.

According to Barangay Councilman Geenefer Salavante, the project spans 602 meters and was funded with ₱96.499 million. Data from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Iloilo Office showed that 104 meters of the structure were damaged.

Barangay officials held an emergency meeting to discuss the incident and have since alerted residents to remain vigilant amid the approaching storm.
