PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan — The Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) MIMAROPA conducted an ocular inspection of the Puerto Princesa City Sanitary Landfill on October 13, 2026, as part of its continuing efforts to monitor solid waste management practices in Palawan.
Led by EMB MIMAROPA Regional Director Atty. Jayson Abrera, the inspection focused on assessing the landfill’s overall condition, structural integrity, and existing waste management systems.
During the site visit, Abrera and the EMB inspection team also examined the facility’s leachate treatment plant, which processes wastewater generated from decomposing waste materials.
The assessment aimed to evaluate the facility’s wastewater management operations and identify areas that may require improvements to support environmental protection and proper waste disposal.
The inspection forms part of EMB MIMAROPA’s ongoing coordination with local government units to strengthen ecological solid waste management practices and promote compliance with environmental regulations.
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with local authorities to improve waste management standards, safeguard public health, and protect the environment across the MIMAROPA region.
