The House committee on justice is aiming to finish its hearings on the impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte by April 29.

Lanao del Sur Representative Zia Adiong said the panel was nearing the end of its fact-finding stage, with only a few hearings left to hear from agencies and resource persons.

He said the committee expected to conclude its proceedings on the target date if the remaining sessions proceed as planned.

Once completed, the panel’s report may be submitted to the plenary when Congress resumes session on May 4.

Adiong said lawmakers will review the committee findings at the plenary level before any decision is made.

He added that deliberations will include debates and an opportunity for members to question the committee chair, who will present the report.

The lawmaker stressed that the House’s role is limited to determining probable cause and not deciding on guilt.

The impeachment complaints cited alleged misuse of confidential funds, inconsistencies in asset declarations, and controversial statements involving top government officials.
