The Manila Electric Company (Meralco), led by Manuel V. Pangilinan, has announced a welcome rate reduction for December, offering households timely relief ahead of the peak holiday season. Electricity rates have gone down by P0.3557 per kWh, driven primarily by lower transmission and generation charges. This brings the overall rate for a typical household to P13.1145 per kWh.

According to Meralco Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications Joe R. Zaldarriaga, residential customers consuming 200 kWh can expect to save around P71 on their December bill. He noted that the downward adjustment is intended to ease financial pressures as families prepare for Christmas and New Year festivities.
