Heavy rain is expected to continue over parts of the country on Friday as the enhanced southwest monsoon affects western Luzon and the Visayas, according to Pagasa.
Weather specialist Obet Badrina said Typhoon Dolphin, which remains outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, was reinforcing the Habagat and could keep rainy conditions in place through the weekend.
Pagasa forecast 100 to 200 millimeters of rain over Zambales, Bataan and Occidental Mindoro within the next 24 hours.
Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra, Benguet, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila, Cavite, Batangas and Antique could receive 50 to 100 millimeters of rain during the same period.
As of 3 a.m., Dolphin was 1,095 kilometers northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon and moving westward at 20 kilometers per hour.
Pagasa said the typhoon was not expected to enter PAR and would continue toward mainland China while enhancing the southwest monsoon.
Former Tropical Depression Maymay, meanwhile, had weakened into a low pressure area and was located 565 kilometers east of Echague, Isabela.
The weather bureau said the LPA could dissipate and eventually merge with Dolphin’s trough or outer circulation.
