
Police investigate the basketball court at a Parañaque condominium where a gunman shot, killing two and wounding four, on March 4, 2026.
Two people were killed and four others wounded when a gunman opened fire at a basketball court inside a condominium complex on Wednesday night, according to a report from the Southern Police District.
The report said the victims and witnesses were playing basketball at the Azure Residence court when they heard a loud noise. Suddenly, a suspect entered through the main gate and began shooting at the group.
The shooting occurred at 7:59 p.m., after which the suspect ran out of the condominium complex and headed toward a nearby mall. Authorities have yet to identify a motive for the attack.
Police identified the suspect as a 59-year-old male resident of Barangay Marcelo Green. His name was not released. Investigators are still gathering information and coordinating follow-up operations.
The National Capital Region Police Office reported that two of the victims were declared dead on arrival at Ospital ng Parañaque District 2 at 8:44 p.m. and 11:12 p.m. Four other victims were hospitalized and are in stable condition at Ospital ng Parañaque and Parañaque Doctors Hospital. Four additional basketball players who witnessed the shooting were unharmed.
Authorities recovered two deformed bullets, three metallic fragments, and nine fired cartridge cases from a 9mm pistol at the scene.
The Parañaque City Police Station is reviewing security footage, coordinating with nearby police units, and monitoring routes including the Skyway to locate and apprehend the suspect.
Investigations are ongoing as police continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses. The case remains under active follow-up.
