In a bold move to combat misinformation and strengthen public trust, the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has deepened its partnership with the Philippine Government Employees Association (PGEA) through the launch of a powerful new initiative.
With the rallying cry “Totoo Tayo: PGEA x GSIS, Laban sa Fake News,” the two organizations introduced the GSIS-PGEA Speakers’ Bureau—a program designed to train PGEA leaders as trusted sources of accurate, up-to-date information within their workplaces and communities.
“One of our top priorities is to ensure that our members know the truth,” said GSIS President and General Manager Arnulfo Veloso. “With the flood of fake news today, we joined forces with PGEA to form a speakers’ bureau that can spread real, reliable updates about GSIS programs and services.”
The initiative kicked off with a two-day training workshop held from May 7 to 8, 2025, where 27 participants from Luzon and Mindanao underwent training to become credible advocates of truth in their respective agencies.
But this isn’t just a one-way street. Veloso stressed that the bureau is also a channel for feedback. “We want to hear from our members—how we can improve, what they need, and what more we can offer.”
PGEA National President Esperanza Ocampo echoed the significance of the effort. “This partnership is more than just about fighting disinformation. It’s about empowerment. We’re not just educating ourselves—we’re equipping our fellow government workers with the truth,” she said. “Many are praising this initiative, and it’s clear this collaboration with GSIS is making a real impact.”
The Speakers’ Bureau was born from a memorandum of understanding signed between GSIS and PGEA in June 2024, aimed at boosting public service awareness and strengthening engagement across government institutions.
In a time when trust and truth are more important than ever, GSIS and PGEA are showing that public servants, armed with the facts, can be a powerful force against fake news.
