The Philippine government will ramp up its efforts to create more job opportunities for Filipinos, following the latest report from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) showing a rise in the country’s employment rate in February 2025.
Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro expressed optimism about the PSA’s findings, which indicated a decrease in the unemployment rate to 3.8 percent in February from 4.3 percent in January. This marked the lowest unemployment rate since December 2024. “Good news po iyan. Kung tumaas po ang employment rate, ang ibig sabihin ay maganda po ang nagiging pamamalakad ng gobyerno para po maibsan naman din po ang kahirapan ng ilan po sa atin,” Castro said during a Palace press briefing.
She added that the government would continue its efforts to help jobless Filipinos, particularly the graduating beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), by organizing job fairs across the country. The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will ensure that these job fairs provide opportunities for 4Ps members to secure employment on the spot.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has also vowed continued support for Filipino job seekers and nano-entrepreneurs, reiterating that the government remains committed to helping them find work and improve their livelihoods.
The PSA data also revealed that the number of employed Filipinos rose to 49.15 million in February 2025, up from 48.49 million in January and 48.95 million in February 2024.
