Wherever Miss Universe 1969 Gloria Diaz goes, she commands attention—not just with her timeless beauty but also with her unapologetically candid personality.
In a recent interview, the 74-year-old actress and beauty queen revealed that she has been in a relationship with Mike de Jesus, the president of DBP, for the past 28 years.
“My partner is younger than me,” Diaz proudly shared. When asked if he was also wealthier, she responded with confidence, “Definitely. He’s a very serious man.”
Despite parting ways with her ex-husband, Diaz maintains a healthy friendship with him—so much so that they even go out together with her current partner.
“I can handle two guys at the same time. Kayang-kaya ‘yan,” she quipped.
As for remarrying? “‘Wag na. At my age, alangan naman naka-white pa akong [wedding gown].”
Diaz credits her graceful aging to staying busy, surrounding herself with loved ones, and indulging in self-care.
“How do I maintain? By working, having friends, spending time with my children, my apos, my boyfriend. I drink champagne, exercise, get massages, and, of course, do my hair and makeup,” she shared.
Even in showbiz, where long filming hours are the norm, Diaz remains adaptable. “You have to be flexible and enjoy what you’re doing.”
For someone who has spent decades in the entertainment industry, Diaz remains grateful rather than demanding.
“I love the business as it is. A lot of what I have comes from showbiz.”
Diaz is known for her outspoken nature, though she admits that she now holds back—at least a little.
“My daughter wrote on my Instagram, ‘Without filter since 1969.’ But nowadays, I try to be more careful kasi napapahiya sila (daughters), or sometimes I’m misquoted,” she explained.
Still, she admits that no matter how hard she tries to be filtered, her honesty always wins.
Diaz is set to appear in Regal’s biggest horror movie of the year, Untold, alongside Jodi Sta. Maria, Juan Karlos Labajo, Joem Bascon, Mylene Dizon, Kaori Oinuma, Sarah Edwards, and Lianne Valentin.
Directed by Derick Cabrido, the film is set to hit cinemas on April 30.
