As communities across Southern Mindanao begin the difficult task of recovery following the recent devastating earthquake, McDonald’s Philippines is stepping up its relief efforts by deploying more than 10,000 McDonald’s Kindness Kitchen meals to affected residents and frontline responders.
Working closely with local government units, McDonald’s has activated its Kindness Kitchen program to provide hot, ready-to-eat meals to families displaced by the disaster, as well as rescue teams, healthcare workers, and volunteers working tirelessly on the ground.
Within the first 24 hours after the earthquake struck, McDonald’s delivered 500 hot meals to beneficiaries in General Santos City, one of the hardest-hit areas where widespread damage and disruptions were reported. The company is set to send an additional 2,000 meals to the city in the coming days, with more food assistance being prepared for other affected communities across Southern Mindanao.

Beyond immediate relief, the initiative aims to provide comfort and nourishment to people facing uncertainty and hardship in the wake of the disaster.
“During times of crisis, McDonald’s is committed to providing comfort and nourishment. We continue to work with our partner local government units to provide the necessary assistance for affected areas through the McDonald’s Kindness Kitchen,” said Margot B. Torres, Managing Director of McDonald’s Philippines.
The company said its support will continue beyond the emergency response phase as communities transition toward recovery and rebuilding.
McDonald’s is also encouraging individuals and organizations to help expand the reach of the relief effort through donations to Ronald McDonald House Charities Philippines, its charity of choice. Contributions will help fund additional meal distributions for families and communities affected by the earthquake.
The deployment of the Kindness Kitchen reflects the growing role of private-sector organizations in disaster response, providing immediate assistance while complementing government-led relief operations during one of the region’s most challenging moments.
As Southern Mindanao recovers from the earthquake’s impact, thousands of hot meals are expected to bring not only nourishment but also a measure of hope to families and frontline workers confronting the aftermath of the disaster.
