In a country made up of over 7,000 islands, getting everyone connected is no easy feat. Yet Globe is stepping up to the challenge, expanding its mobile network to reach even the most remote and underserved areas in the Philippines.
As of today, Globe’s mobile coverage reaches a staggering 96.13% of the national population — that’s more than 106 million Filipinos who can now make calls, access the internet, and stay in touch with loved ones. But for about 4.2 million people still living outside network reach, especially in far-flung islands, mountainous villages, and off-grid communities, the digital world remains out of reach.
“There is still much work to be done to bring quality connectivity to every Filipino. Globe remains fully committed to making it happen,” said Joel Agustin, Globe’s Senior Vice President for Network Planning and Engineering.
To help bridge the gap, Globe poured ₱56.2 billion into capital expenditures in 2024. That investment translated into over 1,200 brand-new cell sites, upgrades to more than 4,600 towers to support LTE, and close to 600 new 5G sites across the country. The result? Nearly full mobile coverage in Metro Manila and over 97% in major cities across the Visayas and Mindanao.
But Globe’s mission goes beyond just urban reach. The company is putting a strong focus on rural and unserved communities, where a simple mobile signal can make a life-changing difference — giving people access to online education, e-commerce, telehealth, and job opportunities that were once out of reach.
Agustin emphasized that Globe’s expansion is driven by impact. “We remain targeted and strategic in our network builds, focused on enabling and uplifting the lives of more Filipinos, and contributing to national development.”
To extend service to off-grid communities, Globe is innovating with solar-powered and off-grid towers. These solutions allow connectivity to flourish even in areas without consistent access to electricity. Collaboration with local government units also helps cut red tape and accelerate deployment.
For three years running, Globe has been named the country’s most reliable mobile network — a recognition that reflects not just expansion, but a commitment to quality service.
The road to full digital inclusion is long, but each new tower, each upgraded site, brings the nation one step closer to closing the digital divide. For millions of Filipinos still waiting for a signal, hope is now just within reach.
