The death toll in Gaza linked to Israel’s ongoing military campaign since October 2023 has risen beyond 72,000, according to figures released Monday by the territory’s Health Ministry.
In its latest update, the ministry reported that more than 172,000 individuals have been injured since the conflict began, reflecting the continued humanitarian toll of the hostilities.
Recent data showed that two fatalities and one injury were recorded within the past 24 hours, attributed to Israeli fire in separate incidents.
Authorities also noted that casualties have continued even after a ceasefire arrangement took effect on October 10, 2025, with hundreds reportedly killed and thousands more wounded since then.
The ministry said at least 704 people had died and nearly 2,000 others had been injured during the period following the ceasefire agreement.
It added that search and retrieval operations have uncovered hundreds of bodies trapped under debris, with 756 remains recovered since the truce began.
Widespread displacement has affected nearly the entire population of Gaza, as fighting has forced residents from their homes and disrupted basic services.
Damage to infrastructure has been extensive, with about 90 percent of civilian facilities impacted, while reconstruction costs have been estimated by the United Nations at around $70 billion.
