Another impeachment complaint was lodged against Vice President Sara Duterte before the House of Representatives on Wednesday, marking the fourth petition submitted within February.
Lawyer Nathaniel Cabrera personally filed the complaint at the Office of the House Secretary General, which is headed by Cheloy Garafil, and it was formally received that evening.
The petition cited multiple grounds, including alleged threats against top officials such as Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the supposed misuse of confidential funds, failure to fully declare assets, abuse of authority, bribery, and other high crimes.
Sources familiar with the filing said the complaint was endorsed by Deputy Speaker Paolo Ortega V and Manila Rep. Bienvenido Abante Jr., as seen in photos circulated to the media.
Cabrera grouped the allegations into several categories, namely culpable violation of the 1987 Constitution, betrayal of public trust, graft and corruption, bribery, and other serious offenses.
Among the constitutional violations cited were the alleged subversion of lawful succession through threats against senior officials, the purported diversion and nontransparent use of confidential and intelligence funds, and the incomplete declaration of her Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN).
He also accused the Vice President of conduct inconsistent with public office, including alleged misuse of funds, nontransparency, and actions deemed damaging to public trust, alongside claims of irregular disbursements and inducement of other officials to violate rules.
Three earlier impeachment complaints remain pending before the Office of the Speaker, led by Faustino “Bojie” Dy III, and are expected to be referred to the House Committee on Justice, with lawmakers noting that recent political developments may influence deliberations on the cases.
