Partly cloudy to cloudy conditions prevail across Metro Manila and much of the country on Sunday, according to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
In its 5 a.m. bulletin, Pagasa said Luzon will experience generally fair weather with partly cloudy skies.
The Visayas and Mindanao, however, will see more cloud cover, with chances of localized thunderstorms developing later in the day.
The agency attributed the weather pattern to a ridge of a high pressure area affecting Northern and Central Luzon.
Pagasa explained that sinking air linked to the high pressure system limits cloud formation, reducing the likelihood of thunderstorms in affected areas.
Despite the relatively stable conditions, hot and humid weather persists due to the same system.
In Metro Manila, the heat index may climb to around 36°C to 37°C, falling under the extreme caution level.
Higher heat index values are expected in some areas, including Dumangas in Iloilo, which may reach up to 42°C, while no low pressure area or tropical cyclone is currently being monitored.
