Eight major crimes in Quezon City declined by more than a third in January, according to data released by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) on Monday.
Police records showed that incidents classified under the eight focus crimes dropped to 129 cases in January 2026, down from 200 cases logged during the same period last year, marking a decrease of 71 incidents or about 35.5 percent.
The QCPD said the crimes monitored include murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft, car theft, and motorcycle theft.
The district also reported an improvement in its crime solution efficiency, which rose to 80.45 percent, indicating a higher rate of cases being resolved through police operations and investigations.
Among the monitored offenses, theft posted the largest numerical decline, falling from 102 cases last year to 68 this year, or 34 fewer incidents.
Motorcycle theft also showed a sharp decrease, with cases dropping from 25 to 11, representing a reduction of more than half, police data showed.
Police officials attributed the downward trend to sustained patrols, intelligence-led operations, and continued coordination with communities across the city.
The agency said it will continue its anti-criminality measures to maintain public safety and ensure police visibility in neighborhoods throughout the capital’s largest city.
