The Philippine National Police (PNP) has once again underscored its commitment to both public service and personnel welfare following an incident in Quezon City where a police officer was injured while responding to a call for assistance.
The incident occurred along Eulogio Rodriguez Avenue beneath the Libis Flyover in Barangay Libis, Quezon City, where the officer sustained injuries in the course of carrying out his duties. Fellow police personnel immediately rushed to provide medical assistance and closely monitored his condition to ensure he received proper treatment and support during recovery.
The swift response reflected the PNP’s continuing emphasis not only on maintaining peace and order but also on safeguarding the welfare of officers who put themselves in harm’s way to protect communities.
A separate humanitarian response was also carried out in Iloilo City, where personnel from the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) and the Regional Medical and Dental Unit 6 promptly assisted a senior citizen who collapsed while walking along Zamora Street. The elderly man was given first aid before being transported to the West Visayas State University Medical Center for further medical attention.
For PNP Chief Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., both incidents demonstrate the organization’s commitment to compassionate policing and people-centered service.
“Every life matters. It is heartening to see our police officers immediately assisting a senior citizen in need while also ensuring the welfare of a fellow officer injured in the line of duty. This is the kind of compassion and service we want to instill throughout the entire organization,” Nartatez said.
He emphasized that behind every badge is a public servant willing to help and make sacrifices for others.
“Behind every uniform are people willing to help and sacrifice for others. Let us continue to strengthen service with heart, care, and genuine concern for the welfare of both our citizens and our police personnel,” he added.
The incidents serve as a reminder that policing extends beyond law enforcement. Whether responding to emergencies involving civilians or ensuring the well-being of officers on the front lines, the PNP continues to promote a culture of responsiveness, compassion, and professionalism under its “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas” campaign.
As communities increasingly expect not only security but also empathy from law enforcement, the actions of police personnel in Quezon City and Iloilo City highlight the organization’s efforts to deliver fast, honest, and people-centered public service.
