The country’s top police official has emerged as one of the highest-rated government leaders in the latest nationwide governance survey, reflecting sustained public confidence in the Philippine National Police’s reform and public safety initiatives.
Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. secured a 78.8-percent Index of Governance (IOG) score in the latest “Boses ng Bayan” survey conducted by RPMD Foundation Inc., placing him among the country’s top-performing public officials.
The survey, conducted from April 1 to 8, 2026 among 5,000 respondents nationwide, showed that Nartatez also posted a 78.5-percent trust rating and a 79.1-percent performance rating, underscoring strong public approval of the PNP’s efforts in maintaining peace and order, improving police services, and strengthening community relations.
The results come amid the PNP’s continuing implementation of reforms aimed at professionalizing the police force, enhancing operational effectiveness, and making law enforcement more responsive to the needs of ordinary Filipinos.
Reacting to the survey findings, Nartatez said the recognition belongs not only to him but to the thousands of police officers serving communities across the country.
“We are grateful for the trust and confidence of our fellow Filipinos. This recognition is not for one person alone but for the men and women of the PNP who work tirelessly every day to keep our communities safe. Malaking inspirasyon ito para lalo pa naming pagbutihin ang aming serbisyo,” he said.
The PNP chief emphasized that public trust remains the organization’s most valuable asset and vowed to continue strengthening transparency, accountability, and community-based policing.
“Patuloy nating palalakasin ang ating ugnayan sa mga komunidad at sisiguraduhin natin na ang bawat aksyon ng PNP ay nakatuon sa kapakanan ng mamamayan. Public trust is our most valuable asset, and we will continue working hard to deserve it,” Nartatez added.
The survey results also highlight growing public recognition of the PNP’s ongoing modernization and reform programs, which align with the administration of Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and its broader governance agenda.
Under the PNP’s Focused Agenda, the police organization has intensified efforts to improve service delivery, strengthen crime prevention measures, and enhance police visibility in communities nationwide.
As it moves forward, the PNP said it remains committed to building a professional, transparent, and people-centered police force anchored on its vision of “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman”—a commitment aimed at deepening public trust while contributing to national development and public safety.
