Hundreds of Filipinos gathered at Rizal Park in Manila on Saturday, March 22, 2025, to take part in the annual Earth Hour, a global environmental campaign that encourages individuals, communities, and institutions to take action against climate change.
From 8:30 to 9:30 p.m., participants symbolically switched off non-essential lights to show solidarity in the fight for a more sustainable planet.
Earth Hour, organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), is observed in over 190 countries and territories, reminding people of their power to spark change through collective action.
The event at Rizal Park featured environmental talks, live performances, and candle-lit activities, drawing families, students, and advocates who came together to raise awareness about energy conservation and environmental protection.
This year’s theme, “Switch Off and Secure Water for All,” also highlighted the urgent need to protect the country’s water resources, which are closely linked to energy consumption and climate resilience.
By joining Earth Hour, Filipinos continue to show their commitment to preserving the environment for future generations, one small action at a time.
